We often tell others they’ll feel better soon, but we rarely give ourselves the same kindness. Healing, whether physical, emotional, or mental isn’t something that happens overnight. It’s a process that moves at its own pace, and learning to honour that pace is one of the most powerful acts of self-care.
Some days, healing feels like real progress. You wake up with energy, a new urge for optimism and a sense of lightness. Other days it feels like standing still, or worse, like you’re gradually moving backward. But that’s the nature of recovery. It’s not a straight line, it’s a rhythm that follows a guided path of steps and small moments of courage that build toward balance.
When life feels heavy, give yourself permission to rest. Take a walk. Breathe deeply. Eat something nourishing. Let someone bring you a cup of coffee, or bring one to yourself. It’s not indulgent, it’s necessary. The simple things are often the ones that help us return to ourselves and become whole again.
Remember that “feeling better” doesn’t always mean returning to who you were before. Sometimes it means becoming someone new, someone softer, wiser, more grounded. Healing reshapes us in ways we don’t always see right away, but its quiet work is always happening.
You don’t have to rush. You don’t have to force it. You just have to keep showing up for yourself, gently and sincerely, one day at a time.
And soon, maybe not today, but soon, you’ll look back and realise you’ve come further than you thought.
Sincerely, Lisa.
